Base plates
Required for trucks that will not leave the state. The registration process for base plates is similar to registering a personal vehicle
International Registration Plan (IRP): is a registration agreement between the United States, Canada, and the District of Columbia that allows commercial vehicles to travel between jurisdictions without registering in each one.
Temporary Registration Permits (TRPs)
These permits are issued to new vehicle owners who have filed a registration application but have not yet received their license plates. TRPs are valid for 90 days and must be removed once the new license plates are received
Drive Away Permits: These permits provide temporary registration for unregistered vehicles. There are 7-day and 90-day options. The 7-day permit is for intra-state use, while the 90-day permit is for vehicles leaving the state.
IRP 45-Day Temporary Permit
This permit can be purchased for $3 for certain changes, but is not available at Secretary of State facilities.

This permit allows owner-operators to operate a vehicle for 20 days while they search for a carrier to lease with

Registration Cab Card Updates: is a vehicle's registration that lists the jurisdictions it's permitted to travel in. It's proof of registration for commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) and is required for them to operate legally across state or provincial lines
